Transcript:
Stone Soup by Jan Eliot Alix: Hi, Andy! I heard you were working here! Andy: Summer job. Phil: That's great. Andy: GREAT? I wash dishes, empty garbage and clean bathrooms. Phil: But it's all about the money, right? Andy: It's certainly not about the FUN. Phil: I had a fast food job once. It convinced me to apply to the police academy. Wally: And me to college. Wally: To this day the smell of a mop makes me want to study something. Andy: Point taken. Alix: You missed a spot.

Good to see the guys bonding, and taking Alix out of the house while (I imagine) wedding planning is going on.

My daughter did a similar thing to a teenager when we went out to eat once (she was about 6 at the time), and pointed out a dirty spot on the table. You could see him gritting his teeth, through his “smile”, as he wiped the table for a 6 year old.

Now we know why the fast food industry can take credit for giving people a start in life. Too bad the majority of employees aren’t young people. The hours are terrible; the pay is worse, and the work literally stinks. But that’s what it takes to keep the costs in line with what the eating public expects. If you think this one didn’t exactly tickle my funny bone, you are right.

My son is 32 finally after trying for close to ten years got on a grocery store only part time as grocery store only hires part time workers. His hours change each time. First job he had with a hard ware store he was first 25 laid off when NY was attacked then second job with another hard ware store bigger and the supervisor was terminating a lot of workers for different reason’s including my then teen son from HS..Now he brings in shopping carts, bag grocery’s, and takes out trash. For just above minimum wage.
I at least think Val would take the girls to their dad’s gravesite for Father’s Day. To the dad’s out there enjoy your day.

Something’s different here — I thought the Sunday feature was always separate from the current story arc.

For all you saying fast food jobs are supposed to be taken by high school kids living at home and getting job experience, how are these places supposed to be open at lunch time during the school year?
