Not all Republicans are like that, just the ultra conservative right wing ones. And they are totally wrong as usual, expecially in the case of the nations infrastructure, which is going to continue to kill and maim their fellow Americans until somebody with a better brain has the federal government actually do something. Such as was done in the past by both Democrat and Republican administrations and Congresses!!
1) Congress mandated Amtrak implement safety improvements.2) Congress keeps cutting Amtrak’s budget.3) Implementation of mandated safety improvements is slow because of lack of funding.4) A train derailment that could have been avoided by the implementation of the mandated safety improvements occurs in an area in which said improvements haven’t yet been implemented.Soundds pretty straight forward to me.http://www.ctpost.com/local/article/Amtrak-crash-spurs-calls-to-expedite-upgrade-6264466.php
John Smith should spend a little time on the Internet doing a search on the economic impact on the country of the immigrant population. I think he would find most are hard working and have had a very positive impact on our economy. Granted the states near the border feel most of the negative impact but over all they have been quite good for the country.
Eve cause government does not do very much well. It should not be in business. Maybe, if government funding were not there to make up any losses, Amtrak would be more cognizant of all aspects of its business.
“Assigning blame doesn’t help the people who were killed. Effective government provides safety systems that protect us from engineers that may be incompetent, evil or just fall asleep. Why is it that Republicans are so anti-government?”
That system has already been funded and in fact was already installed at the site of the crash, it just hasn’t been activated yet. Sorry, but blaming this on funding is simply ignorance on your part.

They aren’t anti government. That wouldn’t benefit them at all. They do believe however that there is a lot of bloat and waste in government.
