So, the water is going down the drain, but the river has reversed and is filling up the lake again. That means there’s no chance for Jimmy to escape the whirlpool by grounding the boat. He has finally given up and is ready to turn himself in, but I’m not sure there is any way they can rescue him. I suppose they have to try.

Little late to yell “I QUIT” there, Jimmy……prepare to meet a water grave deep in the bowels of a liquified salt tomb….

    Thought Balloon in Panel Two.

How often do we see those?

Choo Shooz could’ve used a few more leading up to this point.

Who was it that suggested the gold from both robberies might get coughed up by the maelstrom?

Seems to me I recall Tracy arriving via helicopter at the end of at least one of those old U.P.A. Dick Tracy shorts.

Will next Sunday’s strip be one of those “Wrap-Up-One-Story-While-Beginning-Another” types?

And will “Fall” come early for The Blackhearts?

Jimmy must be scared – he lost the cigar he’s been working on through several murders.

The barge may still be their if it hasn’t been sucked down yet. It could be coming around to crush Jimmy’s boat.-————————————-Now, that would be a nice surprise, and seal his fate.

Since the “police chopper” (Jimmy’s term) is not a dedicated rescue helicopter with winch and rescue basket/harness, getting porky Jimmy out of the maelstrom may be beyond its capabilities. If so, -good riddance, jerk/robber/multiple murderer….

Gweedo commented,I bet Rikki’s steamed at playing second fiddle to this “high seas” adventure, Bill. And to think she is keeping the sheets cold for nothing.-—————————————————————————————

Hah! I read DT on my new “crypt top” computer, Gweedo!

It’s a cool death, and much in the Dick Tracy tradition, but why Jimmy and not the atrocious Doubleup?

Doubleup is softening up a little bit. Jimmy doesn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities that we’ve ever seen. I suppose Doubleup may die eventually, but now is not the time.

The other thing I was going to say is that endorheic bodies of water tend to be located in desert regions.

The water in most lakes, even big ones eventually ends up in the ocean.

Gweedo said,Getting you that for a birthday present helps keep you in at night, or is it the day ?If only more girls knew how to keep their man down.-——————————————————————————————————-

Gweedo remarked,Remind me never to do my peeping activities at your place, Bill.-———————————————————————————————————

I’m not physically chained, Gweedo, only mentally. Since Rikki learned to gesture hypnotically from Mandrake, she is able to “cloud my mind”, as Lamont would say. Drop in anytime you want, Gweedo.
