My daughter was invited into a Toastmasters meeting when she was about 9. At one point people were asked to speak, and one person was the “um-counter”, counting ALL instances of “um”, “like”, “you know”, etc. My daughter got the lowest count in the room!

When you’re nervous or don’t know what to say, filler words like ‘uh’, ‘like’, ‘you know’, and ‘well’ appear.

If you watch an interview with sports players after a game, count how many times he says “I mean.” I once counted 7 in one answer.
