This isn’t really about Greece; it’s about the EU. And the plight of many, many migrants.

Migrant boat disaster: ‘irresponsible’ rhetoric blamed for failure to restart rescue

Catering to the masses:Katie Hopkins Wrote This In The Sun About Migrants And Now Everyone Is Really Angry

" NO, I don’t care. Show me pictures of coffins, show me bodies floating in water, play violins and show me skinny people looking sad. I still don’t care.“

” Make no mistake, these migrants are like cockroaches. They might look a bit “Bob Geldof’s Ethiopia circa 1984”, but they are built to survive a nuclear bomb. They are survivors.“

” It’s time to get Australian. Bring on the gunships, force migrants back to their shores and burn the boats."

I didn’t watch whatever reality show she was on or has been on since, but this woman thrives on this reputation for being …awful. That’s how I know who she is. No matter how hard one tries to avoid this bad excuse for human, she invades our screens, papers, conversations. It is strange behaviour, relishing in being hated: but as it sells and brings in oodles of dosh, she thinks her ‘opinions’ matter because there’s an audience lapping it up, readers buying Murdoch’s The Sun for her op-articles.

But judging her and not judging the EU or national governments for not assisting hapless migrants is another thing altogether. Perhaps this Katie Hopkins and politicians aren’t so different from each other.
