Val is a strong woman. Stand by Phil no matter that his job is dangerous. He is a cop. Danger is his job. You, the kids, & the extended family are what gives him the reason to come home & be able to relax with his loved ones. You make his life choices good ones!
@Dani Rice: We had a neighbor who was a Dallas patrol officer. One morning the radio news had a story about an incident that involved gunshots and a wounded officer. When the announcer said, ‘Sgt - -’ and then ‘said’, the jolt that hit me in the instant before I heard ‘said’ was one that I won’t forget. I was totally awake at that, and giving thanks both that the wounded officer was going to be fine and that it was not our neighbor.
Wow… I was worried that Val being a single mother was something Jan decided she didn’t want to change. I haven’t been this worked up over a cartoon character in a long time.
Will Val realize how important Phil is to her and have a hospital wedding? The thought that she could have lost him means that the wedding will take place in the next few days.
She can draw (pun recognized but not really intended) this out pretty much as long as she wants; but I don’t think she’ll kill him. How much damage there is is a lot harder to figure: she’s got plenty of possibility. BUT—it’s her strip, and we need to let her do it her way.
Now Val has to decide if she wants to go through this again. Her first husband died of cancer. Now Phil got badly injured in an collision while on the job. Can she survive another widowhood if she were to marry him because there is always a possibility of Phil dying on the job? Or should she just break up with him now? It is not about Joan or her girls. It is about Val surviving another death of a spouse. She also needs to think of the girls – losing a step dad. They barely remember their dad as they were very young when he died and were not traumatized but they would be if Phil becomes their step dad.

I’m glad, of course, that he is going to be OK but if this wasn’t a Friday cliffhanger opportunity missed nothing is!

The next decision Val has to make is whether the risk of being widowed again as a wife of a cop is something she’s comfortable with.

FINALLY some response! Usually I can be patient with cliffhangers (Gravity Falls fan here), but I just HAD to know if it Phil was ok or not.

I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but, Phil is still in surgery. This could go any number of ways.
