Corky, here’s a tip – buy ANOTHER Bunny (same kind, of course) stick it under your pillow so it ‘wears’ at the same rate as HER Bunny and when it “vanishes” pull YOURS out and declare “Oh, here he is!”

i had a doll named drowsy whose pjs were permanently attached, couldn’t be taken off and washed, and couldn’t wash the whole doll. the doll had mechanical bits, you pulled a string and she said"i’m drowsy"(what else). drowsy was replaced twice without me making a fuss about it. guess i wasn’t that observant or i was willing to accept all drowsy dolls as one symbolic doll. good thing either way. she did get horrifically dirty being dragged everywhere.

My niece had Baby when she was 2 and by the time she was 8, Baby looked worn out. Went on ebay and found another brand-new “Baby.” Baby then had a permanent place of honor on her dresser and the new one was named Claire and she assumed all of Baby’s duties, sleepovers, play dates, and the like.

Forgot to mention, the toys aren’t worn out, they’re well-loved.

Never had this problem with my 2 kids. The daughter loved all her toys as if they were her only favorite, so switched them out. The son liked his as if they were just another toy. But he just had to have the latest thing, if he got it, he played with it until boredom set in. He’s the main reason we had to introduce the 1 Santa gift/year & it had to be reasonable (less than $50), some years he just squeaked by with his Wii games ($49.95).

My favorite was a Raggedy Ann doll that my mom made when I was a baby. I carried her everywhere and lost her at my aunt’s house when I was playing with my cousin. Mom made another one and I accepted her without fuss. Later when my aunt found “Raggy” the second had a sex change and became Raggedy Andy.
