    When I was a kid and we’d go for a ride in the country, the adults would always say something like “Ah, smell that fresh country air” every time we got near a livestock operation. I think I was 50 before I figured out they were being sarcastic.

    When I was a kid I saw a comedian named Jose Jimenez who told this joke. “I got pulled over the other day by a traffic cop. He said I was speeding. I said “That’s impossible officer, I passed lots of cars going faster than me.”I didn’t get it, but I remembered it because of that. Then suddenly one day 20 years later out of the blue, I got it. Heh heh heh. Talk about slow.

    That’s great! We need to collect “Jokes That Took Decades To Get”. I know there are a lot in classic Warner Brothers cartoons that went by me until I was much older.
