    Yeah, but it is a PR exercise designed to enrage the West in particular even further, to goad them more into outraged action. Execution videos are often quickly censored or brought down but videos of art destruction is shown on prime-time TV, and can even be seen by the younger folk pre-watershed hour.

    But in order to goad a Western response, destroying art and artifacts allows their propaganda destruction to be aired on prime-time slots. One may debate where Western priorities should lie but IS is simply being more media-savvy.

    Can’t help but comment that those destroying ancient cultural artifacts in the Americas are called “collectors”, and of course we can’t neglect Pizarro and those other “good guys” who melted down all those gold icons from the “new world”, the intent wasn’t any different, just as when those good missionaries mandated the destruction and extinction of native languages as well, with their schools and “education”.

    ^noted same, and it is interesting how righty America gets their “science” wrong, and in looking at their knowledge base, geography isn’t too sharp either. (Kinda like thinking ISIL with it’s 30,000 is going to invade America by ground attack.)
