Powerful message here, thanks for the wake up call, Mike!

The KKK sheet was to cover up what even they knew needed to be done in the dark. This bill is a shocking throw back to centuries old ideas. The more shocking that it is a actual bill, gaining legitimacy…

I guess I’m just clueless, but I cannot see the connection between religious freedom and bigotry.I hope someone can enlighten me.(I think freedom of religion is just fine, as long as it includes freedom from religion

Next they will claim lynching is a religious freedom – like they did within my lifetime.

There was a case here in Chicago you night have read about. A couple for years had a bakery in a neighborhood known for its homosexual population. They did business with ALL their neighbors; had good business relationship with ALL their neighbors. But when an order was placed with them for a wedding cake for a homosexual union, they decided that their Christian consciences would not let them support an activity they believe God disapproves of. They ended up closing their business rather than go against their beliefs, which is what Christians have done for two thousand years — sacrifice for what they believe God requires of them. I’m not sure if it was public pressure or some ordinance they ran into, and granted it was their choice, but you tell me where the intolerance was and who got lynched.

@dogday88Had not heard about the Chicago case. Those who owned that business made their own decisions and lived with them. The intolerance is in operating a business open to the public, then refusing to provide services to certain members of said public. It is akin to the lunch counter that refuses to serve blacks. The KKK claims to be faithful to their Christian beliefs, leading them to oppose “race mixing” as they define that term. Hence the comparison made by Mr. Luckovich.

denis1112: Women can wear western European clothes throughout most of the Islamic world..DagNabbit: No, they claimed it as a duty. In much of my lifetime in the south, lynchers claimed to be Christian and the organized Christian church structure did nothing about it. There were exceptions, of course; I can remember my father preaching from the pulpit of Kessler Park Methodist Church against the Arizona and California concentration camps in 1943 and in Trinity Methodist Denison against lynching in 1938. But there were few others.

You need to add Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and a whole slew of other race bating Aholes on the blue side Luckovich. They are worse than the KKK in every way. Black Panthers or shooting whitey AKA cracker anyone?

@ dagnabbit: I wasn’t going to step back into this because , 1.it’s evident that the question of "conscience’ is not one that anyone will look at; and 2. you are a much better apologist (I know you understand the correct use of that word) than I ever will be in this forum.

Kwanzaa isn’t, as far as I can tell, a religious thing, so your point?

Ah, the Invisible Hand of the Market. Most people won’t know and they’ll take that as endorsement of their bigotry.
