I think (could be wrong) that this strip could theoretically cross gender boundaries as well, although even as I started imagining it I realised how much less likely it was in other cases.

But as much as I started with it as a specific dose of humour / headdesk, I’ve realised what you noticed – it is a very good example of mansplaining.

Though nothing will (…hopefully) ever top the guy who tried to analyse a female author’s book to her, whilst otherwise insisting she couldn’t possibly know as much about it as him.

I think this is less mansplaining and more “an overweight person telling a slender person how to exercise properly.” Happens on the internet ALL the time. “Here’s how you do this correctly, not that I even participate in this activity, but I sure know how to do it right.”

Not sure the husband should suggest to his wife the right way for sit-ups. For my hubby never would as I do not do sit-ups not able to.

I think the husband is about to hear a few choice words.
