According to Hertz, the cameras are there as part of a two-way video system (part of their navigation feature) that allows a customer (when safely stopped off the road) to video chat with a representative. They say the camera cannot be remotely activated; the customer must turn the chat feature on.
That’s a scary precedence Hertz is setting. What’s next, hotels installing cameras in their rooms so they can “video chat” with people through the tv? Hmmmmmm……
