    Its interesting to remember that Lindbergh’s flight was the Apollo 11 of this time!

    I don’t know which is lonesome-er — Lindbergh ALL alone in that little plane over the Atlantic, in the dark, for hours and hours; or the Apollo 11 crew, not so much alone, in the “dark” and not anywhere near the Atlantic or anything else on earth. Both are amazing. Wonderful, to use Skippy’s word; full of wonder.

    There were times during Apollo 11, when the Command Module was on the far side of the moon, when Michael Collins was completely cut off from every other human being in the universe. No direst or even indirect lines of communication. So, there are similarities.
