That’s almost exactly like the race car I built when I was a kid. I used an orange crate nailed to a two by four and wheels from an old baby carriage nailed to the sides with 16 penny nails. The axel was another two by four attached loosely to the front with a large nut and bolt. Instead of a steering wheel I used a horizontal stick attached to the axel with ropes, very similar to this.
