Interesting to see the long underwear and vest w/garters to hold up those long stockings in the first panel. I wonder if this was a usual clothing configuration of the time.
It’s interesting that US strips seem to have gotten away somewhat from the profusion of one-note characters (by which I mean ones that have one outstanding characteristic or obsession that governs every strip). UK comic weeklies still seem mired in the monomaniac genre, which seems shabbier by the year, though it offers fodder for VIZ’s take-offs.

That is an amazingly ugly kid, and so is his Mommer. Even the dog is ugly.
