@Val
Her Room/Door, her choice… but ask first, who knows, she might actually agree to letting Grandma+Phill in, if you ask nicely…

I think a dead bolt is a bit far.

Even if she were paying rent, a tenant does NOT have the right to change locks, let alone install one.

Guys, it’s a comic strip. And I’m glad that you aren’t taking it too seriously.

If I were Val I would either change the lock and give everyone a key (thus making the lock useless) or remove the door altogether to provide an object lesson about unilateral action without consulting the parent. The door could be replaced when needed.
Of course, this is just a comic strip and not real life.

I’m with Thirdguy, this is supposed to be a funny. And anyway I don’t believe Alex. Holly probably spouted off her big mouth (as kids do) and said, “grandma can’t have my room, I’m dead bolting the door”. Everyone remain calm!

I believe Holly may have told Grandma she deadbolted that door. For Holly is way to young to be considered a tenant works and pays rent and Holly is too young to hold a job outside of babysitting. Mom is behind times of Holly. Curious how this will turn out with dead bolt lock. I am sure Val wants her mom to come home for awhile.

How OLD are you people? Lost ALL your humor? Chill!

If this were real, I’ll bet Holly would have dead-bolted her door to keep out Alix!

GetFuzzy, J Puzzle, et al – I don’t think most of the comments are about the comic. I think they are about Zero Gabriel’s comment about “her room/door, her choice”.

What about Joan’s old room?
