I once, out of sheer habit, handed the cop my credit card instead of my driver’s license. He laughed and said ‘cash only’. After he ran my license (and gave me a warning ticket) I told him he was the only cop I ever met that had a sense of humor. He said he had only intended to give me a warning in the first place, otherwise he would have been more professional.
I really hate that question. I’m not a mind reader. Just say “I pulled you over because…………” That makes more sense than asking if I know why. I’m not going to know why.
