I remember working on my sister’s car with my dad when I was an older teenager. We were trying to replace some very rusty breaks because the car had been sitting there for a while. He was hammering at a piece that he was convinced was supposed to come off. I don’t remember what it was called, but the thing wouldn’t budge. Many of the other pieces had been difficult to remove as well, but eventually I decided to check online (we had just gotten the internet) for help. It gave detailed step by step instructions that said in big letters “DO NOT REMOVE THIS PIECE!” The very one that my dad was pounding on. It couldn’t have been that important though because that was almost a decade ago, and the car still ran really well up until last year.
