    I have not seen one of those on a playground around here in many years. Right around the start of the whiny lawsuit era of man.

    From my recollection, they removed those from most playgrounds due to lawsuits. Very sad. I remember riding on those until I would get sick then I would get right back on it the next day. Boot and rally kid style.

    The elementary school near me has some swings (with wood chips all around them to cushion a fall presumably) but no merry-go-rounds. No monkey bars, either. But lots of room for kids to run around and burn off energy.

    My elementary school had a merry-go-round with handles large enough for two children that you could pump on each side. Four good sized kids could get it going fast enough that your eyes sucked back in your head and the small kids fell off onto the asphalt. The run and play area was gravel.

    Yep, “they” have removed them – even from public play grounds. There goes a once useful physics lesson.

    even when you make a playground safe, kids will find a way around it . they climb up the slide, the outside of the tunnel kind. got to love it.
