This time, the president is a part of a group that used to be slaves and that many organizations swore to bring back to slavery. This presidency is more touchy than others for that reason.
Plus OK-city bombing, plus the attack against an IRS building last february, plus countless burning crosses. Don’t you think people should have learned by now?
It’s not a race card, it’s a violence card. Your own.
The whacking on Bush was strictly, you will excuse the expression, bush-league by comparison. No one questioned whether Bush was (1) a citizen, (2) a socialist, (3) a Marxist (not the same thing), (4) a Muslim, (5) a terrorist or someone allied with terrorists. All these things have been lobbied at Obama, with a stunning lack of any real data apart from rumors, vicious slurs, and (in some cases) racism.
Nor did people brag about bringing guns to Bush rallies with the implicit statement of being willing to shoot the president.
Sure, people compared Bush to Hitler, though I didn’t (I referred to Ted Rall’s savage cartoon on that); I did compare his disinformation and lies to those of Goebbels (the “Big Lie” approach), but that was entirely appropriate as a discussion of propaganda. At the end, that was a judgement of Bush’s behavior, whereas people were saying these things about Obama before he ever hit office.
bush was called “shrub”- the name of his company. His economic policy of turning government over to corporations was compared to fascism, or feudalism- because that’s what they were. Millions protested his lead up to war based on lies, and they were indeed proven to be lies.
Rove’s activities, along with Richard Perle, Ashcroft, Gonzales and others were totally despicable, but they hardly rubbed off on Bush.
While some area scrambling to “cleanse” the image of the TEA Party, the majority supporting it are neither patriots, or true Americans.
The truth of the matter is George W. Bush was in no way, shape or form a president of merit.
Hate speech? Calling “W” an incompetent dimwit does not qualify as hate speech…though it is easy to despise such a silver-spoon born booze hound (“born again”) who seemed more than pleased with himself while flaunting his peculiar brand of ignorance and arrogance.
Isn’t it strange that whenever free citizens with freedom of speech voice their opposition to what is perceived by a majority of Americans as socialistic policies and a pending tax burden that will have our great grand children in debt up to their eyes is referred to as haters, racists and vile. The attitude and goals of this current administration and majorities in congress should scare freedom loving Americans to death. Unfortunately the loudest supporters of this regime don’t care about freedom. They care about control.
@ Richbooker - a truly timeless comment. I was thinking something along the same lines five-six years ago, too.
There are a few nuts on the right, should that come as a surprise to anyone? There are a few on the left, too. Doesn’t mean it’s fine to be a bigoted, vile-spewing a….e either way.
@4uk4data: The tea party was accused of throwing the N word (god I hate talking a like 6 year old) around but even though Andrew Breitbart is offering a cash reward for proof no one has collected it.
Instead of mindlessly slinging out these baseless accusations that you have heard elsewhere why don’t you come up with some proof that could be used to justify vilifying a growing majority of American citizens.
For the record I was no big Bush fan either. However, I would greatly prefer him to this incompetent progressive we have now.
MEET A FEW TEA PARTIERS – THEY ARE PROBABLY THE NICEST, LEAST HATEFUL PEOPLE IN YOUR TOWN. THEY JUST WANT GOOD GOVERNMENT, AND LESS TAXES. IS THAT SO BAD?

After 8 years of Bush-whacking, suddenly the media and the Democrats have discovered ‘hate speech’.
The tea-partiers are amateurs …nary a broken window nor burned-down police cars … but, they are not thankful for the 0bama largess …

Plus, do you think we’re so stuipid as to believe you guys cling so much to your guns without ever intending to use them?
Ohhhhh….but it’s the bad guys who use their guns offensively!
Why should I think you’re a “good” guy?
