In 2008, Yasushi Takahashi proposed to his girlfriend by traveling 4451 miles across Japan with a global positioning system that tracked his steps, eventually spelling out Marry Me on a map! Marry Me

I don’t know about Takahashi. That had to take a year or two, by which time his girlfriend could have reported him missing and married somebody else. Unless he didn’t want it to be a surprise, or she was coming with him. I see a lot of logistical problems here. Job, alibi, sanity hearings, etc.
