Vaccination = bad. Climate change = bad science. Evolution = false. Women’s health choices = controlled by old white men. Immigrants = evil. Oh my, AZ is such a great place for out of touch Republicans.

Arizona became “Michigan South” some time ago. As we watched back some time, the influx of those Michigan plates brought a lot of balding bigots and tightwad snowbirds to the state, and they started becoming “citizens”, demanding services, and refusing to pay for them.

That was “then” this is now, and Arizona “politics” has gone down the drain with too much TEA thinking, that goes way back. Even Barry Goldwater would be considered a moderate to liberal with this nut group!

I’m not sure what the rules are now, but when I was in school, the district required all students to have up to date vaccinations, or they would not be allowed to attend classes. I recall getting a notice my junior year that I needed booster shots before a certain date or I would be sent home.

^That was before ’relgious objections" by radical Christian sects allowed kids to pass on vaccinations.

Counting anti-science left-wing nut jobs as “liberals” is comparable to calling KKK members “conservatives.” New Age, to me, is best pronounced to rhyme with “sewage.”(There are right-wing anti-vaxxers, too, incidentally.)There are those who think and accept science, and those who don’t. If in the former, I don’t care what your politics are, you are more likely to make thoughtful choices.

This might be once in my life that I’m in total agreement with Benson.

However, it isn’t just the “loony left” which may be anti-vaccination. My anti-vaccinationist sister-in-law is hard right wing, as are a few of her lunatic friends, and I’ve run into Big-L Libertarians who also seem to feel that being compelled to protect their children against potentially deadly contagious diseases is a Big Government Plot To Deprive Them Of Their Autonomy. As “marten misses her friends” linked to on a previous Steve Benson cartoon, utter stupidity about vaccines doesn’t correspond to politics.

Sadly, there are areas where stupidity and ignorance just crosses any boundary.

The outbreak is due to the affluent but stupid native citizens. These are the people who have been catching measles and carrying it. It’s a notifiable disease, so we know who they are, remember?

Also, as I know has been pointed out to you before, just what’s the likelihood of poor illegal aliens paying hundreds of $$ to take their kids to Disneyland, you think?
