Just read an interesting article about the evolution of gyms and gym equipment. Started out as a cure for sick & injured but in the up industrial revolution, with the advent of the office worker (mid-to-late 19th century), it became a status symbol to need the gym to stay in shape.
Years back when Quantum Leap was still on tv, there was an episode in which Sam went back to his own childhood, on the farm with his parents, sister and brother.At one point, Sam suggests to his father, who’s just spent a day working on the farm, that he needed to get some exercise.Ah, Hollywood writers.
