Wilma Flintstone and Barney Rubble (and Wilma’s mother, too, if memory serves) had little black dots for eyes. Fred and Betty had eyes with lids and whites like modern humans. And of course Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm grew up with modern style eyes too. I figure the series took place at the exact point in human evolution when the more elaborate eyes were just beginning to develop and take hold in the population.
