    As I recall, Clippard began as a company making coils for radios. The realized that air cylinders could make the work easier, but no one made cylinders small enough to be useful to them. So, they designed and built air cylinders for their own use.But, with miniaturation(?) gaining popularity, others began to request their miniature air cylinders. Eventually, management said the heck with radio coils, we’ll make air cylinders!
