Cuba: Give 'em the business! No more embargo! It's capitalism time! Give 'em your sweatshops. Your toxic waste. Your 1%er vacationers, your factory jobs longing to be outsourced.
Rall, I like how families with young children are plugging up their bathtubs, throwing them in the ocean and sailing south across the shark infested waters of the Florida Strait in order to escape capitalism.
So true. And the re-entry of metastasized capitalism into Cuba will lead to “development”, aka the destruction of those natural edens which have been given a reprieve by the economic situation for the last 50 years.
Seriously, your second sentence puzzles me. Punish Canada? I know the Canadiens are using the Bruins to wipe their skates with glee, but why would Obama punish them? Please elaborate.
@r2varney:Are you Canadian? If so, what Province?.And, to be serious, unless Raoul is as corrupt as Batista, I think there will be many problems for U.S. investors seeking a place in Cuba. In my first post above, I was not joking about “fees”! Two of my college professors spent time working in South America, including visits to pre-revolutionary Cuba. And, In my last job working at a company which was pursuing expansion into Mexico and Central America, I learned that bribery is common at all levels. Whether the Castro regime maintains its grip or not, it will be most interesting to see how Cubans react to American commericial “investment”!
The only thing in the mind of this Administration is to pull a Jimmy Carter and give up Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. A very effective way to close the detention center there if we no longer occupy the ground it was built on. “Mission Accomplished.”

Panel four is the most likely. Raoul will probably allow it, after the necessary “fees” are fulfilled.
