My dachshund does a great high-speed reverse when he puts his nose out and it’s too cold or wet out there for his liking – he doesn’t dither on the doorstep.

If it were me, it wouldn’t last 2 seconds.

Hello All;

I lived in the mountains on a ranch. I had 2 German Shepherds and a Coyote (rescue).

I put in a doggy door so they could come and go as they please.

I put a sign above the door: “Dog Only!” and a picture of an AK-47.

Didn’t have any problems with 2-legged visitors. :-)

Spot,like Louie, likes the cold,snow,etc. He lays in a snow bank and disappears. Then,i have to dry him before he comes back inside. ’Eh,keeps me moving. :) Peace.

What a party pooper …

Good Morning, Crew (a day late).

My dog (chow/retriever mix as far as we can tell) prefers the in AND out game, heavily skewed toward out. This morning (low 30s; dusting of snow on the ground), she was outside for about 3 hours and wanted to come in. She came in for less than a minute, then went to sit by the back door again. I’m guessing that if we had a doggie door, she’d spend a few minutes inside a day – pop in every hour or so to see where we are and perhaps grab a drink of water or a bite of food, then back out again. I don’t know if she’d choose to sleep inside or outside, but I’m guessing the odds are pretty good that she’d opt to sleep outside most nights.
