No, it is the media and the public. The media spends days and weeks on reporting these controversial incidents to boost their ratings. The whole story could be conveyed in a five or ten minute report but they keep interviewing weeping relatives, politicians and Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson against a background of gruesome videos. They have all become part of the entertainment industry. They rarely do in depth reports on significant issues, but I guess that is because the public would rather see strife and blood and gore.

I don’t care for Sharpton at all, but Ramirez and “ilk” are indeed the LImbaughs of the cartoon world, not even a tad less hypocritical here. BTW: the mayor’s family demonstrates he may be more than a tad more open than your average “teapot”, and very aware of where our culture still lies on “race relations”.
As said by Booker T Washington over 100 years ago:
“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

An honest question: How did Sharpton get the level of influence he has?

Will Sharpton return to the Ferguson area again, after an 18 year old was killed while pointing a gun at a cop?

The real dividers are Mr. Ramirez and his ilk.
