“Hey!” indeed, Charlie Brown. How dare Patty reverse the possessive pronouns!

She didn’t; she used the exactly correct ones. The secret was in her tone of voice… Very sneaky, Patty, but very well done. She’ll go far. It’s that kind of world, after all.

I’m confused. Is that some kind of twisted reverse psychology?

Daffy: Ah hah! Pronoun trouble! It’s not “He doesn’t have to shoot YOU now,” it’s “He doesn’t have to shoot ME now!” Well, I say he does have to shoot me now! So, shoot me now!BLAM!

Patty and Violet ultimately faded off into the background and vanished altogether. It’s a good thing too, because otherwise there would have been far too many mean-spirited people taking advantage of poor Charlie Brown. Lucy was quite enough.

I feel like this kind of interaction happens to me at work a lot.

Why can’t you get your own tricycle, Patty?

This was in an era, though, when boys were taught that a gentleman never hits a lady, not even in self-defense. Of course, Patty’s not being too ladylike here!
