Violet was a cutie in those days!!

I remember reading a strange poem in the 70s which I can’t find online entitled “Paranoia.” One of the lines was: “You take the dog out for a walk. A pretty girl comes up and asks you for the dog’s phone number.”

My favourite line of the poem, however, was, “When you defrost the refrigerator, the TV drips.”

eventually she started looking like what Lucy would become, and she liked CB in the early strips but eventually with the first Patty started the put downs of CB and acted superior and was eventually taken out because she was too much a “straight character” of comedy

Interesting how her hair was drawn initially, apparently to give a sense of depth or texture.

Finally we see Violet. Don’t remember her hair looking like that, even in the early strips. She wasn’t mean to Charlie Brown in the early days, either. Neither was Lucy.

I don’t think he became a punching bag for a few years, but that may be what turned the corner for “Peanuts” because a lot of readers related to the angst CB would bring to the table. Until then, it was just another cute strip without much depth to its characters.

Loosely translated, puppies (such as Snoopy in his early years) are cute; Charlie Brown is, well, kind of blah. Get used to it, Charlie Brown; welcome to the real world!
