Apparently, from Val’s comment in the last panel, she is quite taken with the idea(as one that arrived at the correct time) ! ! ! ! Am glad to see that she called Evie !.

I don’t think Evie is horrified. I think she’s just shocked. To my way of thinking, “Get out!” means “Are you kidding me?” “No way!” or something of the kind.

In the second panel Evie is shocked. In the third panel she is plesantly surprised. I’m quite sure if there was a fifth panel she would be smiling from ear to ear.

it’s enough to see her daughter smiling!

Evie’s “No!” and “Get out!” comments are completely generic reactions of happy surprise and not negative at all. If anything, she’s surprised that Phil finally asked and Val finally accepted! I didn’t see any negative vibe about her own marriage at all—I think that’s just overthinking the strip. I’m looking forward to seeing the wedding planning!

Pretty clear that Evie is thrilled, and that this storyline is going full steam ahead! Looking forward to the wedding!

Jan, Thank you for this story line, I think it gave a lift to all of your readers.

“Get Out!” – I think Evie used to watch Seinfeld…wasn’t that one of Elaine’s favorite comments??

“Shut uuuup !” is another of my un-favorites that deserve a knuckle sandwich.

I see now.

I too think the story line doesn’t need to be over-thought! Roll with the punches..Evie is thrilled I’m sure. My only personal opinion is I feel Val does not need another child at this time in her life. but if they decide to have a baby…I’m all for their decision. After all, it is theirs, not ours!
