It was all known a long time ago, but nobody could blame he who cannot be blamed.

Well, in fairness, we did get ‘information’ that justified the invasion of Iraq.

In Woody Allen’s “Sleeper”, in which he wakes up after 200 years in hibernation, there’s a scene where he is identifying relics from the 1900’s for reseachers. They show him a short film segment of Howard Cosell giving a report on Muhammed Ali. The researcher says “We have a theory, that people in your time who were convicted of a crime were forced to watch and listen to this for hours, as punishment.”“Yes” Woody answers, “That’s exactly what it was!”

But, seriously, folks, do you think Cheney & Bush give a damn?

Democrat, political hacks just trying to distract from the Gruber story. We have already hashed this out in public, stopped the procedures, and admitted how bad of a country we are. Now we must go further and put the lives of many good people serving our country in danger.

There is good reason to judge that Senate Democrats “report” as NOT TRUE.-Enhanced Interrogation was a CIA program 2002 to 2009.Exactly 3 terrorists were water-boarded and of course were alive afterward. There were DOJ and other investigations after the program ended, but no violations of law could be found. The intel obtained from EI led to the downfall of the Al Qaeda plotters of 9/11/01 attack that killed 3,000 innocent civilians, and led to the courier and the address of bin Laden’s Pakistani “safe house” compound.-Thank you Democrats for publishing your slanted “report”…here is the beginning of USA foreign relations problems from this idiotic grandstanding by election losers of 2014=http://cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/un-calls-cia-torture-trials-cair-demands-accountability.-The Jihad smear campaign now has Democrat-provided grist for the Hate America Crusade worldwide.

Thank you for presenting the most important points of the report Opednance. I would only add that ends rarely justify means and that which we do to others we permit others to do to us. A writer once said, It is not enough to survive, we must also be worthy of survival.Thank you again.Respectfully,C.

I love that this all started in 1995 under President Clinton and the Democrats that wrote this report “Forgot” about the early years.

BTW notes from a meeting in 1993 Vice President Gore said “That’s a no-brainer. Of course it’s a violation of international law, that’s why it’s a covert action.”

The credit you should take, Opednance, is of taking the initiative to cut and paste the important bullet points of the article and then providing a link for any who would open their minds to more information. Too many state opinions, often inflammatory, without providing any kind of reasonably objective sources for those opinions. The, “I said so, so I’m right and your wrong”, form of exchange is unhelpful and exactly the way the parties and their media outlets of choice wish us to speak to each other. My praise is sincere gratitude for you providing insight and enlightenment on a dark topic.Sincerely,C.

Mikefive: James Risen lays out in “State of War” (2006) how “W” set up his wall of defense and plausible denieability to cover his A (through Z). Others revealed same, back in 2003.

Those who think the report is a fraud by Democrats, are just proof that Karl Rove has Paul Goebbels on his “friends” list to write stuff for the RNC and Republicans in Congress, and they’ll swallow absolutely anything their force fec, but not Abu Ghraib style?

ahab: too bad we didn’t ask every new candidate for federal office whether they would support prosecution – and vote against anyone who says no. It’s easier to decide with incumbents, from both parties; identify any who were pushing for prosecution, and primary out everyone else.

When did wartime combatants and terrorists get our constitutional rights outside of the US?

Superdoofus, we arent the first nor will we be the last. Would you also advocate to drag any living FDR administrator for the Japanese internees? Where would prosecutions stop? Feinstein and the rest of the congressional intelligence committee members knew what was going on. They could have come out and said this is what we are doing but didnt. You cant start with the tar and feathers without getting it on everyone.

echoraven: Gruber was talking about “techniques” used to get that bill, folks should be paying attention to what’s going into the Defense Appropriations Bill, with riders, that will give the richest few Americans billions, destroy public lands and resources-giving them to those same billionaires, and not 1 in 1,000 folks out there in that public, or for that matter, even in Congress seats, know the impacts of what’s there. Yes, idiots.

Different times and different causes. Hitler, Stalin, Hirohito, and Mussolini were dictators intent on world or territorial domination. They had to be stopped. WW1 and WW2 were barbaric but necessary wars. The dictators were intent on domination much like the U.S. is now intent on world domination, and now those in foreign lands (the so-called terrorists) are defending their homeland just as we once had to do.

That’s a real smorgasbord of paraphrasing, some of it slightly correct. Just keep one thing in mind – the U.S. is being attacked by inhabitants of Middle Eastern countries because they resent U.S. attempts at controlling their resources and their politics in their country(s)(“U.S. interests abroad”). Fighting them over there so you don’t have to fight them at home is a bunch or hooey (or crap as Cheney would say).
