Insanity now reigns on all sides of the “argument”. The ability to heap blame, ignoring reality, is demonstration that the debate has become debacle.

I’ve seen lots of that “reverse discrimination” around the country, and for decades, doesn’t make either side “right” or for that matter “left” either.

BTW: the rule on no warning shots is to protect bystanders and others you do NOT want to shoot. Those who say “just shoot ’em in the leg”, have never fired a pistol or revolver, especially at a moving target, while under stress, or being shot at themselves.

Yes, facts and some reality could help both sides prepare for discussion, not debate, so that both sides can “win”, not just one.

Not so funny thing is the bullet regains its momentum on the way down. There have been several cases of people injured or killed by shots in the air. Every New Year’s Day I have to walk my roof and check for bullet holes; those I’ve found have gone through 2 layers of asphalt shingle and buried in the plywood sheathing. Your “very high official” friend is a hazard who has no business possessing a firearm.

Mr. Gravity of the Physics Family states, "Bullet which comes from a gun fired straight up, will then come down and reach the same velocity at the level of the original gun that it left the gun with (ignoring air resistance, which on a rlatively small heavy object such as a bullet is relatively negligable)!’ So, that bullet can do just as much damage at the level of the original shooter as if a person hit by the bullet were to stand directly in front of the person pulling the trigger!

This is why I always cringe when I see arabic types rapidly shooting off their AK-47’s into the air in some celebration of anything. All of those bullets have to come sown somewhere, and the bullets do not care if that happens to be on the heads and bodies of other innocent arabs!!

Now, just perhaps the European police in question might have two guns available, one for firing blanks into the air in warning, and one for firing actual bullets into criminals as a last resort. Perhaps that is what was meant here, and that would work also!

How many “black folks” did the shooting at New Town, Mass, or Aurora, Colorado, and did the victims have their hands up in surrender? The conversation DOES need to go beyond race!!

How many police are shot every year. Oregon had a weight enfocement officer killed on a car stop because the guy didn’t have a license on his trailer. The shooter was just shot and apprehended in Calif, but he wasn’t killed.

The NRA PROMOTES the use of deadly force, firearms, at every step of the way toward restricting access to said force by nuts, and criminals. If access is limited, and those who own keep better control of weapons, not nearly as many will be “on the streets”. Period.

A bullet leaving a weapon at 1,200 to 2,000 ft per second, fired STRAIGHT UP, will NOT come down at the same speed as when leaving the muzzle, as gravity doesn’t have that F=MA of gunpowder forcing the bullet out of the barrel. Those “warning shots” would NOT be shot “straight up” but at some angle where the initial firing velocity would have to disipate, and on some bullets, that’s over a mile!! before not capable of doing “harm”.

The reason Brown isn’t there for the discussion is his own behavior. Maybe Gruber was partly right in one sense – I see a lot of stupid Americans who refuse to look at the evidence in this case, or even to admit it was valid. .This case has set the race discussion back 40 years. For example, no whites I know will ever move to Ferguson or a similar neighborhood. That’s just a matter of safety.

“tell that to the couple who were killed with a hammer.”

Learn to distinguish between people in authority murdering citizens and citizens murdering citizens. Nice red herring though.

@ Clay BennetMichael Brown couldn’t come to the debate, he was busy robbing a conveniance store, and posing for a photo with a stack of bills on his mouth and a pistol on his hands.

Thought here is that a bullet, falling at terminal velocity (~300 f/s) is unlikely to kill: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2011/03/watch_out_for_falling_bullets.html …but I would think that even a small dense object, hitting flesh at ~200 mph could cause severe injury (or damage to property).

ChevJames may be using a bit of hyperbole, but not as much as you are. At any rate, here, the truth is easy to find, and millions are not even looking for it (or maybe even ignoring it), which is just pathetic.

The funniest thing about this comment thread is the people defending the side of Darren Wilson are 100% regurgitating the editorial cartoon, and seem to not realize it.
