The cable companies already won. According to latest Rasmussen Poll, 66% of Americans are against net neutrality. because they don’t want the government regulating their internet.
Everyone knows that corporate monopolies are more benevolent and caring for people than that nasty “government”- just think of all those recalls of faulty, deadly, products corporations ran to government to allow them to fix before anyone got hurt.
I love it that folks who don’t realized what government does, hate it until they call on it to meet THEIR personal needs.
Which, from Harpers Index: Portion of Americans who want their state to secede; 1/4. Porton who cannot name all three branches of government: 2/3.
You base your entire argument on an assumption that is not proven. There are always competing companies (at least without monopolies) but there’s only one state unless you immigrate. I agree with Net Neutrality only to the extent that it ensures a level playing field. Unfortunately, I’m no longer sure I trust our government to limit itself to that.
You are assuming that Internet content will be controlled and limited by someone.
“…content on the Internet WILL be selected, and SOMEONE will decide what you may and may not see”
You then make a claim that it’s better for the government to do that than for private companies to do so. My point is that there SHOULD be a third alternative…. no one. THAT’s true net neutrality.

Private business’ offer choices, take it or leave it. Government orders, “take it, no choice’”. Object too strongly and you’ll be fined or jailed.

I do, I do, I do…..as long as its to keep the monopolistic nature of the telecommincaiton companies in check.
And while they are at it they can do the same for banks and wall street too.
