You all live in the wrong state. Per Alabama state law full-time employees on jury duty must be paid their usual compensation, less any amount received as juror’s fees. Also the courts here are very forgiving for hardship cases (example, self employed and would lose income by serving). Last time I did jury duty they let around half the pool walk in the first 10 minutes due to personal or financial hardship.
Last time I was on jury duty, rode my motorcycle trying to be conscientious to others going downtown in their cars, parked it out of the way and got a ticket for my efforts..Never did it again..However when I went up to the clerk that asked me if my company was paying me to be there, I replied “I work for the other kind of company…”
