I guess it’s hard to feel embarrassing and outraged on an empty stomach.

How sad… You say something must be done but you don’t have the balls to do it yourself…

Then again, them being what they are, they’d probably get arrested for having the audacity to try.

Well, it is all up to mindset. Maybe they ought to be thankful that cops did what needed to stop robbery?

And of course it happened so fast that the police officer never had a chance to verify credentials. (snicker, snicker)

The only time I really see Cops be on their best behavior and do things the very sensible way, and sometimes give too much leeway to those who don’t deserve it, is on any episode of the reality series “Cops”. Of course the cameras are on them then. Other than that, it is the luck of the draw whether or not you get a decent Cop, or one who should have never been given a badge in the first place.

The few times I have had a run-in with the police, the officer has come across as being arrogant. However, that might be just the nature of what the job does to you, for you either have to put on a front or don’t be a cop. All I know is that I wouldn’t want to be a cop in today’s world.

Years ago I went to leave the house (we have a great and diverse neighborhood) to go to work and got 2 steps out of the house before having an officer shout from behind the neighbors house “Stop, what’s your address?” In complete shock I spit out my address. He had his hand on his gun prepared to pull it out of the holster. Right then the neighbor gets out of his truck and walks up the driveway apologizing that he must have set off the alarm when he was leaving that morning.

And maybe, just maybe, Sergio recognized the ambiguity of the events that occurred. I’ve been in situations that really made me feel upset and angry, but with hindsight recognized that while those situations should never have happened, the actual outcome to them was probably the best that could have happened. And I got over it. More salsa anyone?

I wish every one of you yahoos had to go out on patrol, knowing that some subset of the people you encounter are at least contemplating killing you and see how you conduct yourselves. It would be fun to watch you jumping at shadows, spinning around with gun out, and walking backward or just flat refusing to get out of the car. You’re big talkers with all the answers when it’s not you on the line.

Tia Carmen has more sense than that. (As well, apparently, as a lethal stink-eye, when she wants to use it.)

As a former Police Officer, two of the biggest problems I have with how the Officer handled the situation are:1. He failed to call or wait for back-up.2. He then confronted the situation alone when there was not a obvious situation of his or others life being in danger.Another problem, as pointed out by another commenter, was the failure to announce his presence at the door.
