Oh my words! Do they do that on Easter Day every year? I would never do that with my family on Easter day like that. Papi, I knew you planned to tell them not to throw the eggshells each other in your house; otherwise, it would be chaotic mess!

Happy Easter Day to y’all! :-)

    Marg. Hi! :-)

Admittedly, I had to look up cascarones. I’m glad I did. It sounds like so much fun! And what better excuse to make a mess in the house than to throw eggs around at Easter?

I don’t care what you say about Mexicans or Latinos, they have some kooky yet awesome holiday traditions.

What Fun! Outside of course. Our family still have our easter egg hunt even with most of the kids in college. Just had to put different colored stickers on the eggs for each kid so the little ones still get their fair share, and Papa is right out there with the 2 youngest. Have a Wonderful Easter Everyone!

As one of the few gringos in Hispanic Student Association at my grad school, I got introduced to cascarones one year when we were preparing for Hispanic Heritage Month. We used birdseed since it was an outdoor festival, and we wouldn’t have to clean up afterward.

On two different occasions, I’ve taken friends to San Antonio’s fiesta, bought cascarones in front of them, and when they asked what they were for, I gladly showed them.

Growing up in South Texas, we ALWAYS had cascarones at Easter time. We made them ourselves, but like jbjsr noted, you can now buy them ready made. We used to put flour instead of confetti for pranks.
