Cats are carnivores – they can eat things other than meat, but they have a natural instinct to eat meat. My brother had a set of indoor-outdoor cats, one of which would kill rabbits, squirrels, and mice in his backyard, and bring the carcases to the back porch as a present – doing his part to ‘feed’ the family (though they didn’t partake, of course).
