The ’toon is dead on, no pun intended, well, maybe. Yes, Ebola is a nasty disease. Those who now equate it with AIDs might want to note that the spread of AIDS has decreased (but humans being humans?). Treatments for the disease are available to extend life, and quality of life in patients, and yes, AIDS IS a “heterosexual disease”, which of course, when that was found out, folks finally started to G.A.S., otherwise known as “care”.
Now that with a few cases of Ebola leavng Africa and actually infecting “real people”, the effort to control or cure the disease may increase exponentially, to match the potential increse of patient loads.
^It would also be interesting to see what they’re doing with the doc who came back, and another lady who was the wrong type for the guy in Texas, using blood transfusions, plasma?, syrum? whole blood?, as of course another way of deriving a vaccine from I’d assume the live virus.
Thank you, ahab, for the Science reference. I was assuming that the doctors and nurses getting it were having their protective equipment fail in the brutal conditions. The Science speculation makes a lot of sense.
2 ebola deaths in the US. Hold that up against the annual 300.000 traffic deaths and 14.000 gun kills and it looks like preventive resources are better spent elsewhere

That fear is being especially fanned by Faux News, the official mouthpiece for all the tighty righties.

You might not be aware, but prairie dogs, basically a ground squirrel, are a vector in the U.S. for bubonic plague.
