This strip reminded me right away of Paul in All Quiet on the Western Front; he grew more careless towards the end of the movie, and the sight of a monarch butterfly from his barracks distracted him enough so that an enemy shot him in the hand as Paul reached for that nice-looking butterfly that wouldn’t fly away.
