I was thinking of using a sandwich sign that said Begging for lotto money on the front and Kickstart me on the back.

At least one of them is being honest. Several years ago in Las Vegas there was a guy sitting on the sidewalk outside the MGM Grand with his bucket and a sign that read “I’ll be honest, I just want a beer!”
I once offered a beggar a banana. She said she couldn’t eat it because of her teeth. Right.
