The sad thing is that, even if he did this, they would still vote for him. They have been told that, unlike the DEMS, he believes in “good, old, American values!”
No Socialist/Communist/Elitist/Liberials for them.
The truth of the matter is that we have the money that we can divert from somewhere else to pay for this bill instead of invoking new spending and driving us even further into the red.
If America could do one favor for itself this November it could do this: without regard to party, get rid of the incumbents and replace them with people who demonstrate that a) Government money comes from the taxpayer, not thin air and b) that basic math and financial principles still apply to the government and not just to everyone else.
Bunning is on his way out the door, the only reason the Republicans are condemning (in part) his outrageous stupidity, that they’ve all been supporting for decades. All those folks who saw their jobs go to China are competing for a much smaller job base-thanks, righties.
While a number of our elected representatives are indeed morons- most commenters have no concept of how government works, or how many hours most of these dudes and dudettes put in at their jobs- just because they’re morons doesn’t mean they don’t “put in their time”.
If you REALLY want to check out an elected official, check out their STAFFS! If they have good, competent, staff- they’re usually working for their money. If they have BAD staff- they are working to GET YOUR MONEY.
The biggest welfare system in the United States is CORPORATE WELFARE! Get real, get informed, and get over it.
He was more concerned with watching a college basketball game than helping the less fortunate. And one wonders why Congress never does anything to reform the fraud of college sports.
Think about it, every single Democrat in the Senate voted to extend unemployment benefits. Every OTHER REPUBLICAN voted to extend unemployment benefits. Why is Bunning making a stand when he is outnumbered 99 to 1?
Because he’s not running for re-election, so he can do what NONE of his colleagues are willing to do - screw the American worker who lost his job through no fault of his own, on the basis of the principles that got him elected.
A Conservative is just a Liberal who hasn’t been laid off yet.
So if we actually started counting the unemployed who have fallen off the end of UI, what would the (shall we say real) percentage of unemployment? Back to the way it was counted before Reagan?
If there are no jobs, that bootstrapper isn’t going to be working (as least at a job for someone else).
I see many here would like to see the government enslave millions more people, just like the democrats did to the blacks last century. Destroying families, futures and lives for power. Bunning is a man of principle who understands how horrible all this government dependence is.

Let’s all let andy try to live on an unemployment check. Maybe he wouldn’t be so ignorant and arrogant!

Bunning voted NO on Pay-Go. I think fennec has it right, Bunning acted petulantly, like a spoiled kid who didn’t get what he wanted when he wanted it.
