Ebola is not the only possible disease coming into the USA over our southern border. A Customs/Border Protection analysis reports that illegals from more than 75 nations have been detected. Some problems already diagnosed: TB and scabies are only 2 of identified health threats.-From Jan to July 2014, 71 individuals from the 3 epidemic ebola African countries have been apprehended.-China’s crackdown on terrorists has spurred 1,443 caught, 1,803 turning themselves in, or caught at ports of entry this year alone. Do we need more terrorists in America?-Caught in 2014: 28 from Pakistan, 13 Egyptians, 4 from Yemen, Somalia 4; plus (in order) caught at ports P=211, E=168, Y=34, S=290. All these nations are “hotbeds of terror”….-ICE numbers not given in this article are in addition to the numbers in this CBP report.-Ask the Statue of Liberty about all these problems flooding into the USA after Obama’s first executive order in 2011 set the global greenlight to illegals “welcome”!

I really do not understand this as a political subject of an editorial cartoon. I do not mean to pick on Mr. Summers. This is just the latest of several on the topic.

But, there are several disease threats out there in the world at any one time, and some how the US deals with them, usually with a considerable effort from the US CDC. Note that this extends over several administrations.

Ebola is a threat, but not unique, and perhaps not the most dangerous disease threat in the world today.

@warjoskiThanks for the comments. Good points, especially re. timing. To follow up on your comments, Ebola has been around and has been monitored for some time now.

Here is a quote from the media section of the World Health Organization:

“Ebola first appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, in Nzara, Sudan, and in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo. The latter was in a village situated near the Ebola River, from which the disease takes its name.”

What bothers me about the accurate representation of the nation with “Lady Liberty”, is that just as so many ignore the meaning of the statement at the base of the statue, we should remove the last words from the first verse of our National Anthem: “and the home of the brave.” is now a ludicrous misnomer. We’ve got “chickenhawks” calling for wars, and just plain “chickens” reacting to any piece of news about “threats” no matter how ludicrously promoted to make them quake out of their feathers…
