I had a request from a guy on how to setup a separate browser on the family computer. I set him up with an encrypted virtual machine, and made sure he understood that it would not bar someone from snooping on the network traffic coming and going from non-https sites. He didn’t understand, so I drove the point home by having him browse some websites while I was in another room, and then showing him the reconstructed tcp sessions on my laptop. His jaw hit the floor at this wizardry.
He’s quick when he wants to be!Reminds me of a practical joke some friends and I played on another friend. We rigged up speakers throughout a house connected to a control panel and had a seance with a real skull in the middle of the table. One guy played spooky Halloween sound effects through the various speakers with the plan that, when the final blood-curdling scream was played, one of us would blow out the candle and we’d all race out of the house. During the seance, our victim was saying things like “It’s the pipes. It’s gotta be the pipes!” Well, the moment came, the candle was out, and we ran outside… to see our victim waiting for us on the front lawn! Even though he had been seated farthest from the door and it was pitch black, he was the first out of that room!
heh.. I remember when ‘incognito mode’ (either in mozilla or chrome, I don’t remember which one) was announced.. ‘for example, when you are preparing a surprise party and you don’t want that person to find out’.. let’s hope Betty’s birthday is soon enough, or Bud is in trouble..
