If I was Lila, I would feel only joy staring down at her mom in coffin.

My answer to my mother was, “Do worry mom, we are having you cremated.”

My Mom WAS like that. We lived about a klick apart, and she would INSIST on coming to my house, kidnapping my laundry (that I was perfectly capable of doing myself) and then SHE would do it. I got a minor revenge in wearing pleated skirts as much as possible.

She also insisted that I be a ‘proper young lady’ and go to church with her so that I could be ‘brought up right’ and to find a ‘good young man’. Sorry, Mom. Did the whole ‘lavender marriage’ thing (look it up) with a guy I met while serving in Germany (I was seriously tempted to stay in Germany after my hitch was up!) but Mom and Dad offered this tremendous bribe of a house to their tomboy Army-veteran daughter….

God, I miss them both …
