Timeouts (my parents called the “sitting sessions” never worked for me, because I had a vivid imagination and would just sit there and fantasize a story of my creation.
My parents didn’t give timeouts, usually there was a Long drawn out discussion about my supposed transgression. Any overt reaction that they could interpret as not contrition, just increase the length and intensity of the said discussion. It was really just a one way discussion. I listened, they discussed.
