Oh, good grief, I hope I haven’t left anybody out but I did not mentioned the Muslim community which is also very strong and active. The Muslims and the Hindus do not get on very well together but somehow or another we all manage to rub along harmoniously. So, we have Mosques, Hindu Temples, Catholic and Anglican Cathedrals, Methodists, Baptists and many other denominations as well.

That is why Archbishop Desmond Tuto coined the phrase The Rainbow Nation. We all mix together in the workplace, in the shopping malls and now in the schools as well, although many Muslim parents prefer to educate their children in Muslim schools that provide an Islamic education in the afternoon. Thanks to Nelson Mandela we are all learning to lay aside our prejudices and work together for our nation.
