    I am reminded of the old engineering school joke about the mathematics professor. When quizzed over his policy of scoring a 0 on test questions for which the student used the correct method but erred in a calculation or minor detail somewhere, he responds: “You build a bridge, the bridge falls down – no partial credit!”

    When I was in college my English prof gave two grades on written papers – one for style and one for grammar. If you made a single grammatical error, you got an F.
