If I had this GPS voice, I’d turn the sound back on. Dudes.

I have noise-cancelling headphones, and noise-cancelling ear-buds. They’re great — but they don’t cancel out voices very well. In fact, one of the greatest advantages of noise-cancelling headphones, over sound-isolating headphones is that with noise-cancelling headphones you can still hear conversations.-I use the noise-cancelling headphones or ear-buds when traveling by air. They cut out about 15 or 20 decibels of the engine roar (that’s a lot), and make it possible to listen to music, or to listen to my seat mates talk. They do this by generating sound waves 180 degrees out of sync with the noise. They work best on repetitive noise (like engine noise), and cancel very little of variable sounds like voices.-Sound-isolating headphones are passive, and reduce all sounds about equally. Noise cancelling ear-buds are a bit of a hybrid, because they also reduce sound passively, just like regular ear-buds.
