“How do you stop when one side wants you wiped off the face of the earth?”What do you mean “one side”? There are extremists on both sides that want nothing less than complete removal of the other side. Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by an Israeli militant who opposed any peace with the Palestinians.

I can only imagine Matt sighing, trying to do this one. Political ‘toonists, from Nast through Herblock try to make some contribution to public thought, to national debate, to extract some sense out of human foibles, greed and life. In today’s world, it must be a very tough job.

Israel always relies on the “I’ll hurt you more”-style deterrence. The problem is that it plays into Hamas’ hand, as it helps radicalize more and more of the Palestinean population.
